Alfred Baghouzian is Vice President of Emerging Mobile Technologies & Solutioning in the Technology Strategy team, at TELUS Communications.
In his role, Alfred is responsible for ensuring TELUS Mobile Application platform leadership in the industry, meeting competitive market requirements, as well as ensuring alignment with industry value chain and ecosystem trends. Alfred is also responsible for various transformational initiatives within TELUS, leading and driving technology initiatives such as IoT/IoE, mHealth, mCommerce, Alternative Global Connectivity and mAuthentication.
Alfred started his career in 1994 as radio access network (RAN) planning and design engineer the dawn of Canada’s wireless communication evolution to digital (AMPS to TDMA/GSM), during the first wave of digital PCS network introductions in North America. He then embarked in international opportunities as part of the New Ventures and Deployment Opportunity group, as Director of RAN Planning & Engineering, working on various international projects in China, Romania, Czech Republic and UK. He later joined a New Venture group in Montreal, Canada as a Senior Advisor for M&A and Bid Applications, responsible for technology planning, assessment & due diligence in various business opportunities.
Since joining TELUS in 2003, Alfred has been part of TELUS CTO team responsible for developing comprehensive engineering and business operation solutions intended to ensure end-user product design, development, launch and operation requirements are met. Since 2009, Alfred has been involved in supporting TELUS Business & Partner Solution teams as well as TELUS Health Business Division in addressing the emerging wireless market opportunities, including the development of “mobilization” strategies and mobile solutions for B2C, B2B2C and B2E opportunities.
Alfred has held numerous leadership roles in various wireless technology development forums and industry groups (IWPC, CDG, GHRC, CCF, etc.) driving and influencing key industry players & initiatives. Alfred is a member of ATIS’ Board of Directors and part of the ATIS Executive Committee.
Alfred has a bachelor's in electrical engineering specialized in communications from the École Polytechnique of University of Montreal, Canada.
